Dhaka Stock Exchange is the main and first stock market of the country. The second stock market is the Chittagong Stock Exchange. Its head office was established in 1954 in Nikunj area of Dhaka. In 1952, the then government of Pakistan realized the need for a stock exchange for the first time in the then West Pakistan. After going through various steps and making many changes, in 1959 Dhaka Stock Exchange got its place at 9 / F Motijheel Commercial Area. In 2019, the head office was shifted to Nikunj area of Dhaka.
